Well i ahem no luck with this car what so ever!

the gearbox went on monday and have had to have a second hand one fitted along with a new clutch and plate but now my clutch is very high and makes like a shuddering when setting off :( Any ideas?

somebody said the thrust release bearing may be in wrong and not sat right but i saw the person fitting and the arm that holds the bearing on looked to be on correct and moving freely before fitting the box back on ( had to help lift the box from above )

All drives fine with no slipping just the shudder when setting off and the high bite point.

Any ideas guys?

The clutch is very high on the C3, there are quite a few questions regarding the high biting point being normal or adjustable. It is normal and not adjustable, so you may just have it at a normal height.

I don't know about the judder though :(

There is a nice PDF guide by LuK to the various clutch problems in the link below, judder is covered by pages 18-22 (C), worth a look at, no mention of new clutch bedding in. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else need a new clutch to bed in.

There are discounted LuK clutch kits at euro car parts. Fit the full kit because it's just not worth doing half the job with the clutch. Don't forget the clutch bearing guide. Its a cheap part, fails, and is often not included in the clutch kit :o

Well it wasn't a " Brand new " Clutch but a recon clutch as i had already paid out for the head, valves and timing belt last week and then this week holiday and bills had to be paid so only option i had was a recon on my clutch for £15 :( and told by a friend that recon clutches take a few days to bed in.

Recon clutch? I have never heard of one of those for a car. I will have to look into that. Do you have a name of the company that reconditioned it?

The cost of a new C3 Clutch Kit from ECP.com at around £90 is often the cheapest part of the whole job as the labour cost is more than the parts, and are the same if they are new, used or reconditioned.

Hopefully a brand new release bearing was be fitted while the clutch was disassembled ;)

I hope your friend is right and your recon clutch does bed in soon :D . It would be great to hear when it does, roughly how many miles it took to get back to normal.

The judder seems to have calmed a little now so it must just need time to bed in with it being a recon clutch :)

as for my other problem with the throttle pedal sensor issue its still there and have tried EVERYTHING! i can think of :(
