Hi all,
My wife's 1.6 vtr isn't turning over and fuel pump isn't priming. AA have checked all fuses and starter but have found no problems. He also tried to run diagnostics but got no response so no fault codes.
When ignition is turned I get anti pollution faulty for the first time, followed by Eco mode on the next attempts. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Craig

Hi Craig-d
No access to the diagnostics indicates a big problem with the BSI or power to the BSI, which would also explain why the engine won't turn over. Its a problem with the battery, ignition switch, starter or associated wiring that will stop the starter turning over, no comms to the BSI, suggests to me - the ignition switch....He also tried to run diagnostics but got no response so no fault codes.

Thanks for the reply. I get a click which sounds like it is coming from the bsi when I try to start the engine, so I think the next step is to remove it and send it off for testing/repair, unless you can suggest anything else I can try beforehand?
Cheers again.
Cheers again.

I suggest some quick checks for voltage at the BSI and ignition switch before spending big money.Craig-d wrote:Thanks for the reply. A budget multimeter will suffice.
A faulty BSI won't stop the engine turning over, but a faulty ignition switch (for example) can disable the starter and inhibit power to the BSI.
I don't think you have a bad BSI (they still turn over with bad BSI, just won't start).
