Hi all,
New member.
My outlaws just bought C3 1.6 exclusive petrol automatic on a 13 plate with just under 10000 on clock and whilst showing me it I looked under hood and pulled out dip stick and it appeared to have no oil.My father in law said " it's just clean, was only serviced 4weeks ago",In my humble opinion there was no oil on dip, just residue, and for what it's worth, after just a five mile trip, the engine was roasting. There were no warning lights and oil readout on dash said OK. Is this just me going doolally or is there something agog? Surely clean oil will still show on dip same as dirty oil would. Thanks in anticipation of any replies.

Hi Stueydd, the new oil will be slightly brownish after a short run and show up well on a dipstick. Even when you change the oil and don't run the engine you get golden oil on the dipstick and its clear to see.Stueydd wrote:Hi all,

Pull the dipstick, wipe it with clean cloth, dip it and remove it again. Then take a picture and add it here (using the Browse and Add the file(s) buttons below while replying) if you wanted a second opinion

Driving with insufficient oil will do a lot of damage in a very short time

There are 2 marks on the dipstick:
- A = max; never exceed this level (risk of damage to the engine),
- B = min; top up the level via the oil filler cap, using the grade of oil suited to your engine.
