I've had my C3 as a runner for the winter period until I got a new car and now I'm giving it to my sister as her first car so thought I'd better try solve the problem.
Starting the car and the dash instantly beeps at me and tells me the car is overheating (the bars go to max on the temperature gauge).
The fan also remains on and at full speed, even when I have the engine off and lock the car.
I know the car isn't overheating because it happens everytime...
Does anyone have any tips? When I bought it the guy told me he'd replaced the temperature sensor but it didn't fix the issue. At the moment I just disconnect the fan when parked up.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

There are several systems found on the C3 that controls the fan so it may require a lot of digging to find out what system is fitted before trying to diagnose it.
Quite often the engine temperature sensor sends a signal to the engine ECU and then in turn controls the fan on/off or speed.
It could well be an ECU problem or the feed from the engine sensor to the ECU.
A text and check on the temperature sensor, its plug/socket, the wiring back to the ECU, the ECU plug/socket are all point to inspect.
Then, you may get further using lexia system (here) to see what the engine ECU sees for the signal, but this may just lead you to change the ECU at a cost of time and money....
