My car showed the engine warning light and flashed up 'antipollution error' but it also went very shakey and wouldn't build speed. I was on a 50 road at the time, so parked up and waited for my friend to come meet me so I could drive to a garage following her as I wasn't near my garage. By the time I started the car again it was absolutely fine, the light had gone and it drove fine. Still took it and got a diagnosis test done but that just said there'd been a misfire in cylinder 4-which the mechanic informed me could've been anything really but the car should be fine now.
It was okay for a couple days but its done the same thing again this morning, I'm at work currently but wondering if anyone else has had a similar probelm before I go back to the garage? I'm concerned as it was shaking and again couldn't build speed which nobody else has mentioned when commenting on their antipollution error!

Plugs, coil pack and injectors all can cause this fault and a lack of power.Dogwalker101 wrote:My car showed the engine warning light and flashed up 'antipollution error' but it also went very shakey and wouldn't build speed. Is it due a service for plugs and coil pack?
There are different causes of antipollution error and some invoke limp mode, some have running problems and some don't.

With my C3 this was water dripping on the injector (No 1/4 = nearest outside) and on electrical plugs.
Wet weather brought new water. In this forum there is a thread about the washing water dripping
, and this is not only the problem with the older C3s, as I found out (C=2008).

This was supposed to have been cured with a better sealing washer jet on later models.dougine wrote:With my C3 this was water dripping on the injector (No 1/4 = nearest outside) and on electrical plugs.

Im having serious problems with my car.
The fan wasnt kicking in, so had a new fan and control box fitted. The garage have had to fit it to start as soon as the car starts but now sounds like an airplane lol.
I keep getting warning on dash that car is overheating as soon as ive turned the ignition on, even when it has been stood for a couple of days, so obv it isnt.
The garage have put it on comp but is showing no faults, they think it may be something to do with the, now i think ive got this right, the ecu signals, any ideas people. Its cost me nearly £1400 this year on the car an its still not fixed, think i only need to replace the body and id have a brand new car

Hi Chelly93, its a common problem and it can turn out the actual ECU is bad. Not a cheap fix.Chelly93 wrote:I keep getting warning on dash that car is overheating as soon as ive turned the ignition on, even when it has been stood for a couple of days, so obv it isnt.

Second hand parts are available as a kit of bits to change, but you should get a second or even third opinion before going for such a big job.
The kit is a used ECU, a matching BSI and a key. It can make a mess of the mileage but get a running car.
There are companies that can test and repair the ECU.
But checking the ECU connections are good first would be sensible before changing it.

This is a link to the kit of ECU BSI and KEY (ebay) which will need sorting through to match your engine and year as a minimum and for less hassle the same spec car.
If these parts get changed, chance are you will need a (or at least access to) Lexia system (information here)
This company can often test and repair the ECU BBA REMAN.
User1234 has an excellent post in checking and repair the ECU plug connections here which may be useful.
