Hi all, hope the snow isn't ruining everyone's week!

I have another issue on my Pluriel, this time its a warning light on the dash. The light is the engine light and the display tells me there is an anti pollution issue? I purchased a "cheap" CAN OBD II reader so I could plug into the car and see if I could learn what could be causing the issue, I'll be honest I have no mechanic experience so god knows what I thought I was going to do with the information.

I'm hoping someone here can tell me that its just a sensor that needs replacing and its simple to do yourself :-)

Below is what was displayed.

P0444 - EVAP Emission Control System Purge Valve C Open
P0136 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0444 P

Again, appreciate any help.

Yes, a faulty O2 sensor will give this sort of warning. Sensor 2 is the downstream sensor in the exhaust system. This monitors the catalytic converter.

P0444 looks like - Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open.

So concentrate on the P0136 O2 sensor problem first.

EuroCarParts have the O2 sensor available here (enter your reg) but the fault only indicates out of range data for that sensor detected at the ECU.

That's great thank you for your help.

Can you tell me if this is something i can swap myself or will it need a trained technician?

You can change the O2 sensors yourself. They don't need any setting up after fitting.

But, if it's not a faulty sensor, you will be better off taking it to someone who has the kit to diagnose the fault.

The Blue hanyes manual (here) covers your engine and has lots of useful information on doing these sorts of jobs.

Hi - I don't have a code reader yet, I am waiting for my mate to pop around with his diagnostic tool.

It happened again tonight coming into work, under load the car is hesitant but hen became juddery and felt underpowered, the dash told me I had an environmental fault with the yellow dash engine light flashing for about a minute or so. interestingly once this cleared the car ran smoothly and accelerated ok just like last time.

Hi BuzzGraham,
This topic is about anti pollution - Dash warning light and P0136. You may not have the same fault if you don't have the same codes, which you won't know until the codes have been read.

They are cheap enough to buy on Amazon - (here)
