Hi just purchased a c3 1.4vtr+ 8v with 14500 on the and the other day 4 of us went out for a drive around goathland on the north Yorkshire and noticed that going up hill was a nightmare, the car was really struggling in some places and even changing down to 2nd gear just to get up hill was touch and go, is this just a quirk of the car? does anyone else notice this lack of power although its fine on motorway journey's but has to be worked hard going up gradients etc ....comments please :?:

if its automatic car and overloaded it wont be fast when climbing hills, i have the manual one its stronger, but did you try the same road with you driving and 1 pasenger to see if the problem remains? if yes you may have problem in transmission

I have a C3 1.8 8v 2008 and the same problem as you. In the Lake District with a full load it feels as if a big hand is holding the car back. I have been overtaken by HGVs uphill. As you say on the motorway ita ok within its limitations. Lucky for me where i live is verry flat. All my cars for the last 30 years have been 1.4 8 valve, this one is the slowest by far on hills.
