Morning guys

Had the rac out yesterday has my car would not start on my lunch even though i drove it 10 mile just a few hours before with no problems atall.

Checked over everything he thought it could be & then put it on the computer and everything came back ok.

The car had a full service back in december.

The car only has 23500 miles on the clock there and there abouts.

He thought it could be the crankshaft sensor so i went & bought one and replaced this last night.

The car didnt do anything when the RAC Man was here but once i had replaced the sensor it coughed & splurted for about 2-5 secs then just cuts off.

Tryed to give some revs when turning ignition but did not respond atall just cuts out.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Many Thanks

Dan

Welcome to the forum Dan,

Well, I would put it on the computer again, if it was a crank sensor type of problem there will be at least one fault stored. The type of computer you can use yourself for diagnosing engine related faults on a 2005 petrol C3 is an OBD2 reader - available here. Armed with the diagnostic codes generated by the car you will have a much better chance of looking in the right direction.

You don't. The immobiliser is deactivated by the crypto chip inside the C3 key fob.

If you think you have a key immobiliser fault, just try the other key :)

The fuel filter is in the fuel tank and not a service item.

Maybe the car is still in 'limp home mode'. It may need to have the fault codes cleared, to tell the car that its been fixed.

There may be new fault codes now, something like the throttle pedal signal, throttle potentiometer, something along those lines, or some sensor fault. Seeing as the engine runs but doesn't rev up, there are bound to be error codes generated.

Is it an automatic?

What happens to the engine tone if you floor the accelerator pedal with the car in neutral and the engine started?
