Hi all,

I've had my C3 for 6 days now and it's started to cut out on me when i dip the clutch just before stopping.

I've noticed when pulling up behind stationary traffic or coming to a stop at lights etc and i dip the clutch the revs surge up and down sometimes they settle sometimes it just cuts out straight away.

I was having the car serviced anyway so new engine oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, drive belt and spark plugs have all been changed, the garage informed me the battery was shot so this was also replaced.

I went back to the garage as the car cut out on the way home, they cleaned out the throttle body which hasn't helped, they have told me they plugged it in and no faults are showing and i should replace the map sensor and throttle body but this isn't cheap, any ideas guys....

I would expect MAP to give an error code.

They had the throttle body out and cleaned it but found it was worn out?

Maybe the throttle body is faulty?

They disconnected the airbox and sprayed something in there from an aerosol can, probably carb cleaner all around the butterfly valve whilst holding the throttle down so it wouldn't cut out, they said it was caked in crud.

Even though there was apparently no faults showing his guess was a faulty throttle body i was just apprehensive about spending £200 plus fitting on a guess.

Spraying cleaning stuff in will do some good, but taking it out and soaking or cleaning a bit more thoroughly may help revive the old one.

It souldn't be caked in anything, so it may indicate there is another problem causing the build-up on the body.

Thanks for the replies.

It's an intermittent problem so ill live with it until after Christmas then either fit a new throttle body or take it into citroen for hopefully a more in-depth diagnostic check.

Thank you for the update.

Did you get any error codes from the diagnostics that led to the coil pack?

I took it to a different garage and had the car plugged in, 2 faults were showing, 1 being the ignition fault the other was the cat.

I didn't personally see the fault codes, sorry.
