I'm trying to price a timing belt kit for a 16v engine C3 that i might buy but when I look on line the kits apparently don't fit, I presume the belt is longer on the 16v engine, does anyone know a reputable kit. Please don't say main dealer that would probably be more than the car is worth.
Cheers
Peter

Do you know the VIN?
Or the year, at least?

1.4 ET3 or 1.6 TU5 engine?
The 16 valve engines are double over head cam. Meaning the belt needs to go the extra distance between the two camshaft sprockets. Is that what you meant?
I would recommend the Gates kits. They include (depending on the kit) the belt, tensioner and a water pump. You can get good bargains on Ebay. I got the full kit from Ireland (I live in Australia) for about 90 pound, including shipping!

I don't know the vin or engine no., its a 2009 reg but not the newer shape what I think they term a run out model, I just really need to have and idea of the price to factor in when I make an offer, Just worried that I use the 8v figure and find out the 16v is 3x as much. Thanks for the advice so far.

If we can't be sure of the engine, just pick the highest price timing belt kit of the choices for a 16v from around 2009 and you won't be loosing out
