Hi, my daughter has a 1.4 petrol C3 2006

Three months ago she had the head gasket & skim done (for the second time in three years)

Whether thats relevant to the faults today I can't say

She was leaving work and first the battery light came on, then ABS light on , brake warning, airbag lights came on and seat belt warning, on getting home she said the power steering seemed to stop working, and finally a warning stop driving or similar

On my looking under the bonnet I found the drive belt is gone, presumably snapped and fell off

Would all of the above be related to no alternator belt?

I believe I have sussed how to fit a new belt and have ordered one but just wanted to know if the warning lights are all related to that problem ?

Power steering, ABS, air bag and seatbelt warnings are all electrical (all warnings are electronic) and a discharged battery can cause error messages because the relevant ECUs don't have enough power to operate.

I would say yes, all your sudden warnings and lack of electronic power steering are caused by the lack of alternator power and a discharged battery.

Thanks for you reply

I was just going to post myself as I found exactly that

I fitted the new belt this afternoon after a bit of a struggle

I found there was no room to work from above so removed the OSF wheel arch liner which was fairly easy which gave access to the spring tensioner and enabled putting a socket and bar on it to enable taking tension off to get the new belt on

And on testing after all warning lights were gone thankfully

Thought I would add the extra detail as I struggled to find anything online specific to the C3 1.4

So car is back on the road and daughter can get to work

Thanks again for your reply
