Not much progress , well actually I have got as far as disconnecting solenoid terminals,
and even removal of the bolt under the battery tray.
I can't be sure with the other 2 s/m bolts.
1...which seems to take 6mm allen bit is hard to release...is it possible to get at it from above...?
2.. can't even see it through driver's side wheel arch.... but I have not removed fuel filter....
# I need some detailed advice and encouragement to proceed further...the experts on this forum
are really my only realistic chance of going further.#please help me#

The link the C3CAR gave has lots of information on how to remove and replace the starter. There is a picture of the starter in place, a picture of the bolts and their location, common pitfalls on the wrong bolt, a list of tools required.......
If you need even more of a guide from beginning to end, use the haynes manual - blue version section 5A.5 covers starter removal

ok , grateful for any feedback.
Without removing fuel filter and the pipes mentioned ..
I have extracted the 6mm allen- headed bolt....thus down to the last(? ..of 3? bolts).Well done me.
But before removal of "last" bolt , I have almost fully refitted the bolt from the battery box side,
reasoning that if all bolts are removed and s/m moves, I may not be able to refit it...so..
..tentatively unscrewing (with huge access difficulty) Bolt 2 mentioned above, I struck the end
of the battery box bolt to see if things moved. Not much..
So my question is : are there in fact four fixing bolts, not three?

There are 3 shown in the diagram.
Have you removed the correct bolts? There is a lot of information in the link posted above about which bolts to remove.

Thanks.
Still trying....I have now removed 2 Allen headed capscrews from behind the engine.
I am now thinking it is logical that Citroen would use a similar fixing from the
battery box side, but can't see one.
All I see are 13mm bolts.
So can anyone tell me if it will definitely be a 6mm Allen capscrew?
And can I access the third(?) fixing..if it is situated there , without removing the fuel filter?
I will be going out there to have a look , as I am still working on loosening the bracket bolts
,
but any tips would be very welcome.
Cheers.
