I have just fitted shock absorbers to my 08 c3 1.4 HDI. As almost always happens the drive shaft popped out and a fair amount of gearbox oil came out. So I now need to top up the gearbox oil. It came out nice and clean, so I don't want to drain.

Here comes the problem. The Haynes manual shows a square bolt to top up/level check. My manual gearbox doesn't have this where I expect it. Can someone help me identify the correct bolt?

Here are several photos of the gearbox, including some with the drive shaft going in on passenger side.

Haynes says
Haynes Manual wrote:On later transmissions, the oil level cannot be checked as there is no filler/level plug
Which is what you have found on your 2008.

The recommendation is to drain down and refill with the correct, measured quantity via the breather hole on top.

Do I have to remove several items to see the breather hole?

Yes, there are some pipes to remove with the air filter box to get access to the filling point.

The drain point is marked with an arrow
Citroen C3 MA5 Manual Gear box oil drain point
Citroen C3 MA5 Manual Gear box oil drain point

The oil drains more quickly if its warmed up with a short drive before removing the drain plug.

Just filled my gearbox after draining, to gain access to the breather first the air filter outlet pipe to turbo must be removed, then the fuel filter, then the air filter air intake pipe, this gives sufficient space to gain access to the gearbox breather at the top of the gearbox. The breather has a plastic top which simply pulls off, I used the plastic pipe from my bottle of oil to use as a funnel in the breather , I the used some garden hose with a small funnel in that to fill the oil, 2 litres.
