Hi guys... having some "oldcar trouble" i hope you could assist with.

C3 1.4HDI 68hk 2002 engine trouble

i know what i'm going to explain is making no sence, wich is why i'm here.

When accelerating the car is acting like a kangaroo.. Feels like fuel is cutting off. the very weird thing is, it only happens in second gear. If i go from first to third, there are no trouble what so ever?
Sometimes (very rare) it can make a single fallout in late first or early third gear. fourth and fifth NEVER! So when driving along the highway it has all its power.

I've read out a code that says "Recirculation pump DTC status Permanent failure" But after cleaning the fuse mount from its verdigrised mountings, i could get the failure cleared but trouble still occurred. (it has come back though)

now i know the engine can't possible know witch gear is trying to pull.... Therefor i find this trouble very odd!...

Has anyone inhere ever had or seen similar faults?

Things: ive tried.

* Driving without the airflow meter and filter
* cut of the EGR
when doing so it seems like first gear has a few fallouts as well
* Checked the fuel hoses under air filter

Would love to hear your ideas.
Thanks in advance!! :)

It could be worn engine mounts, easy to check. The lower gearbox ones is common and easy to spot, but if you need to change one, change all 3.

What 'P' code number dis you get for the fault you read ' recirculation pump failure '?

Thank you for your respons..

Engine mounts are OK.

I cleaned the fuse mounts and bought some new fuses (old ones didnt look pretty) Seems to have done the trick with the ABS at least.. Cant remember.. i think it was C13...something but not sure.

little update.. after cleaning contacts from ecu and every other one.. problem now occurring in 1 2 and 3 gear.. and not the same power in fourth and fifth anymore. changed all filers but same thing. and still no fault codes (other than P0483 but that has been there like forever)

I'm no expert, Having only just got my c3. I do however like to read and this might be of interest to you.

citroen-c3-tips/accelerator-pedal-throt ... t1086.html

If the accelerator sensor is faulty then those problems could happen. And you might not see the same problem at higher gear as you tend to use the pedal slower. I don't know what the resistances should read so I can't advise using a multimeter to check those, Although I would expect to see a smooth transition of resistance if it uses a resistance type switch. Going to a scrap yard and picking up a pedal from any c3 bar a 1.1 petrol would be my cheap way rule it out. There are enough of these in scrap yards that it shouldn't cost very much at all.
