Hi everyone.
Up until recently my cars been running fine. No strange noises or smells. But over the past couple days ive had a strange high pitched hum, that matches when i accelerate or just rev the engine.
Along with that, i seem to be getting a very odd smell. Cant tell if its burning or fumes.
There also seems to be a drop in power. Feels like its struggling where it normally would have no issue.
Had a look in the engine bay and underneath, and i cant see anything that could be blocked or rubbing. Im not very mechanically minded so im unsure where to look.
Any advice would be massively appreciated.
Its a Deisel C3 2003 Desire. 1.4 HDI
Anything else you need just ask.
Thanks in advance!
Weird sound and smell

Hi,
Because you can't identify where the sound is coming from and you are not very experienced with identifying engine smells or sounds, I would ask someone who knows these things to have a look and listen. Its so much easier to identify these strange noises by actually being at the car.
It won't take a mechanic long to recognize the smell and sound.

Turns out my own fault. I wasn't very observant either.
The coolant was below the minimum. So i topped it up and now it seems fine. No more noise or smell.
