Hi All

I would like some more power from my C3, which is a 8b 1.4 HDI from 2004 with 178.000 on the clock :)

What do you guys ( or girls) have for tips or alike for performance upgrades?

Heard a guy talk about using the turbo from a 2.0 Peaugeot HDI ?

As always there is a chip-tune / optimization which I want to get, but want to do any upgrades first :)

So... Hit me :D

I think you will find that any engine modifications like turbo will just be fighting against the engine performance map in the ECU, so I would suggest you go for an engine remap.

But, you wouldn't want to push a worn engine to give more power. If the car has faults then you may not be getting the power you would expect before the mod and definitely not get the most from the remap.

Is the servicing up to date? (cam belts do break etc)

Is its really worth spending any money on? When you could buy something with more power from its original design?

I think you'd be wasting your money trying to tune a 1.4 litre diesel with nearly 180,000 on the clock. As C3CAR says, you're probably not even getting the power that the car was designed to have.

If you really want to, again as C3CAR suggests, look at re-mapping. My guess is that you won't find much as it's not worthwhile for this car.

My suggestion, if you want more power is to go for a turbo petrol. 20% more power is easy with just a re-map.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

if tuning is out you could always go for restoritive maintenance, for example i have always heard redex treatment can restore a lot of engine power that is lost through years of ownership (fifth gear did a segment on this) an oil and filter change with a fully sythetic oil will help, and a fresh air filter will help to bring back some of the power, unless you have just changed it you might as well do the air filter anyway as its £2 on eurocarparts lol and is something that will really benifit your engine other than that the remap will certainly help, just make sure your engine is in good order before you put extra stress on it, all engines are detuned from stock when they are new so as the components last longer, a remap will mean you are replacing more parts more often
