slow picking up speed

Hi Guys
Looking for some advice - my mums 14 16v diesel hdi 2003 - is lacking power - very dure and slow on the pick up .
Until it hits 1500 - 2000 revs then Hold on to your hat it takes off.
Same happens if you drop down a gear and are under the stated revs it is very slow to bite and pick up speed until again you hit 1500 - 2000 revs and again its off .
Any suggestions guys!!

Hi Paul,

Could be the MAF, but you should do some diagnostics first (use lexia) before spending too much money.

You can also try to disconnect the MAF and see how you get on. If the problem clears up a bit, then its the MAF.
