Hi, new to the site.
Can anybody please help me?
The problem is: the car starts fine but when I put it in reverse, the fuel pump fuse blows.
Does anyone have any ideas or advice?
Cheers.

Hi Skinman1402, welcome to the forum.

Which fuse is the 'fuel pump' fuse that you refer to?

That's OK, bear with me :D

Just a bit of double checking (because I am a little confused) ;)

Would you mind confirming the location of F15 that blows when selecting reverse.

I am trying to verify we think that your F15 is the same as the F15 in the picture above. Would you mind double checking that the fuse that blows is called F15 in the diagram above. :D Thanks.

Thanks for confirming the fuse, this will help when I look at the diagrams.

Is it only the reverse gear that blows the fuse, so all forward gears are ok?

Has any work been undertaken on the car just before the problem started, like a service or repair?

When driving, does the car drive as you would expect, tickover/idle, acceleration, etc?

Thank you for the extra information. I agree, it is rather confusing. I will have a look at the diagrams I have and see if there is any link to the reverse and the fuse.

If you wanted to try something, you could try disconnecting the reversing lights and seeing if that makes any difference (pull both plugs from the rear light clusters)

Another thing to try, which may even provide a temporary solution is to disconnect the reversing light switch from the gearbox.

This topic shows you how to remove the rear clusters https://citroenc3owners.com/citroen-c3-t ... -t621.html

If you wanted to find the reversing light switch on the gearbox, firstly remove the air pipes so you can see the top of the gearbox

Remove the one highlighted (yours is similar, not identical), its quite easy to remove.

remove 4, 14, 15 and 16 - all designed to be removed. (even remove 5 to get more access)

You can also take off the battery cover to get a little bit more room

This topic has some pictures for removing the battery cover https://citroenc3owners.com/citroen-c3-q ... -t703.html

It could be possible the fuse box is faulty, if you don't know its history, anything could have been done to the car.

If you suspect the fuse box (BSM) its easier to replace the whole unit. You can find a BSM - here (eBay)

I have added a picture of the location of the reversing light switch on the gearbox, just disconnect the plug. The picture was taken with the air pipes, battery cover and fuel filter removed.
