I can't believe it. The car that I was told to potentially write is firing on all cylinders again.
Thanks to the help of some of the posters on this forum. You have helped me to resolve a problem that my so called Citroen specialist couldn't, or didn't want to identify!!
The problem started one evening after I pulled up. It was difficult to start, sounded like a ropey Transit Van, and smoked like a coal furnace at 2500rpm!!!
First of all I performed a Leak Off test. This showed me that injectors 3 & 4 where kicking out nearly 3 x the amount of fuel than 1 & 2.
See here.
Then I purchased a Lexia and run a global test. The test backed up the Leak Off test and the ECU messages said that the injection system had failed.
With this knowledge I took it to a Diesel Fuel Injection Specialist.
They were excellent and removed all of my injectors for testing. To my delight, 1 & 2 passed the bench test and 3 & 4 failed.
So they reconditioned the failed ones and put them back in. Because they reconditioned the same ones there was no need to worry about any coding issues.
Touch wood, she is starting, running and sounding like the car I always knew.
The temperature gauge is working again, none of this one bar staying on for ages and then jumping to three. Or thick plumes of white smoke being left behind me.
I am overjoyed that it's back but annoyed about the lack of professionalism of the first garage.
Although it's made me learn a lot about my car. Most people would of scrapped it but I was determined to get these problems resolved.
All that's left to do now is :
1. Replace the front broken coil spring.
2. New front discs and pads.
