Got a quick question - don't have a handbook for my 2003 C3 1.4 Desire so hope someone can let me know the answer.
When starting the car I notice that the oil level seems to have gone down to 2 squares on the bar (nearer to min than max). I checked the oil level on the dipstick and its well within the range.
Do I need to get a top up on the oil level?

Hi Macrae83
The oil measuring using the dip stick and the automatic measuring in the car can only be accurate when the car is level and the engine has not been running for about 5 minutes.
With the above in mind, the dipstick oil level level should ideally be at the top bar, but never over.
Regular oil changes (at least every 12 000 miles) help reduce engine wear and set the oil level back to the max line. As the car is driven the level reduces over the life of the oil (12K miles). Don't allow the oil to drop below the minimum (lower) mark, if its due a change, change it, if its not due a change, check for an oil leak under the car.
Your 2 squares on the dashboard could be due to the car not being level, or recently started and stopped. As for the dip stick level 'well within the range', it could be 2 squares worth?
