1.4HDI 07 Reg.
After driving somewhere today I stopped the engine and on my return there was ignition lights and everything on the car appeared to work except the starter motor.
As the car was parked somewhere awkward we pushed it and tried to bump start it. (ignition on)
There appeared to be no fuel being injected as it didn't start.
So I checked all visible fuses in both interior and under bonnet fuse boards.
I verified the starter by live feed and it turns the engine fine, but no fuel injected to run the engine.
Next step is to try spare key in case its a key chip problem.
Also try Maxifuses under fuse board in engine bay.
I might also check the ignition switch under key on steering column
Anyone any ideas.
First time this old car has ever failed.
No starter or fuel injected.

There is a fuse in the top engine bay fuse box for the solenoid that appears on later cars like yours.

THANKS C3CAR.
I was thinking something simple like a fuse, but the plot sickens.
I checked every fuse I found including the Maxi fuses under the engine compartment fuse box.
All OK, then checked the ignition switch, OK.
Eventually after several BSI resets due to disconnecting the battery for testing and disconnecting
components I noticed,
When the ignition switch is turned to the on position the warning lights below the speedometer
Light up but not all of them, several ignition controlled things like the ABS check do not illuminate.
The display then goes through the mge since last service reset, then oil OK and shows the trip counter.
Then when it should show total milage the display turns off this includes the central dash display.
I think the main ignition feed relay on the BSI board is faulty and the ignition switch controlled
circuits are not being powered.
So no starter motor and no fuel being injected.
Without Lexia I tried two different ODB2 code readers and neither of them would connect after
going through the initial sequence.
So I think the BSI board will need to go of testing and repair.

Although its could be a bad BSI, it would be worth pointing out that it could still be a fuse if you only checked them visually. I have had fuses that look ok but are actually open circuit when tested with a meter.jbz2079 wrote:THANKS C3CAR.

The BSM - engine bay fuse box has relays and solid state switches and these supply the BSI. Be sure you are sending the right thing off to test. It you are not sure and you can pick one up cheap enough, the BSM needs no programming to work when swapped. BSMs are here on eBay. BSI can't be swapped in from another car because its coded to the key and engine ECU.

Further to the above I managed to convince myself the BSI board was at fault so I contacted Rollingmotion
So, Eventually I sent him the BSI, Engine ECU, Coms 2000 Unit and the Ignition key.
They checked everything out a basically said apart from around 350 stored fault codes!!!!!
Everything was working correctly, he checked the immobiliser / key and said they matched.
After a through soak test everything was returned to me and I fitted everything back on the car only to find it was
still basically the same, No starter, and all the ignition controlled circuits dead after pre-start check.
After a bit of poking around in the under bonnet fusebox with a multimeter I found lots of stuff not powered.
Anyway I went to my local car breakers and found a replacement under bonnet fuse box.
When fitted everything appeared to work correctly, so I done a BSI reset and the engine now starts and runs.
So as you suggested originally, it was a faulty engine fuse box!!!!!

Glad to hear its all working and thanks for letting us know what cured the faultjbz2079 wrote:When fitted everything appeared to work correctly, so I done a BSI reset and the engine now starts and runs.
