Hi All,

My C3 has an annoying rattle from the engine bay at around 900 rpm, quite loud and irritating.
I think I have tracked down the source of the noise, it is a loose fitting nylon bush on the pipe feeding the air filter. (I also think my cars engine mounts need changing, which is the initial cause of the wear on the bush...)
But... I have asked my local Citroen dealer, who informs me that I can't order the bush separately, I have to order the entire tube assembly :(
I have attached some photos - if anyone can help me source a replacement bush, or can get hold of the individual Citroen part number I would be very grateful :)

Thanks in advance,
John

The part is not shown on the diagram for a 2002-2006 8v 1.4 HDi, there is just no number for it :(
Citroen C3 1.4 8v HDi air intake parts 2002-2006

I will have another look around to see if it appears on later cars or a different diagram.

It would be worth checking all the other mounting and fixings for the air intake system are intact and present, if one is worn, you could find others are wearing or just missing :o

You could try euro car parts for engine mounts C3 2002-2005 1.4 Diesel engine mount (left), and C3 2002-2005 1.4 Diesel engine mount Rear (dog bone) or for later cars the 2006-2009 left engine mount.

It doesn't appear as a separate part on the 2006-2009 either. It looks like its part of the pipe, which is silly as the pipe won't wear, but the bushing will.

Hi Just a thought, if you cannot buy one from Citroen, you could try and find a machine shop that don't mind doing one offs and they would turn one up easily if you have measure for diameter of centre hole. Will probably be a fraction of the original price as well. I have gone this route when find parts hard to get.

Arfur Dent:
Thank you for your help looking into this for me. I should have mentioned that my C3 is the 16v engine, and being specific to the C3 does not give me much hope to find an alternative part... though I will probably ask Peugeot if they have anything similar in their system.

Trumpycam:
This is something I have considered, though I was planning to use a hacksaw and a stanley knife... getting someone with a lathe to do it is a good idea though :)

Thanks for your help with this. If I do get any more info, I'll post on this thread again :)

Ah, sorry. It looked 8v to me, I will have a scout around the 16v pictures and info for you.

Which year is your 16v diesel C3?

Unfortunately number 15 is the metal stud with the rounded end: 4566.11, COLUMN SCREW RDL, 8X125-40/83.

There is no mention of the rubber/nylon bush.

No problem

Thanks!

I had a look at our 1.4 16v intake pipe and the bushing on ours is much more messy than yours, virtually destroyed, yet there are no annoying rattles going on in the engine bay.

You could try removing the pipe and running around to see if you still rattle?
