Hi to all
Name is Ray and I have recently jioned this great site. I have a 1.4 16v hdi diesel C3 2003 SX . Had it for about 6 years with no problems now it has started to light up .
It was imported from the UK.
I have the same problem dicussed here with the temp lights all on . I have replaced the sender unit but problem persists.
Any ideas to what I can check first?
Lexia (scanned by a friend) shows temp sensor fault.
Thanks

Hello Ray62

seeing as you have access to Lexia, I suggest you connect lexia back up again and take a screen shot of the actual error code and its full Citroen description (the whole page) and attach it here following these instructions.

This will give us the full picture of what the Lexia reports.

Also, you say all the temperature lights are lit. Is this all the time, just sometimes or do they flash?

Has any work been done on the cooling system? (other than changing the 'sender unit' - which one?)

Has the coolant been changed every 5 years or so?

Does the coolant level get checked, what is the level?

What colour is the coolant?

Hi
Lexia reports low voltage from sender unit and it is the one under the fuel filter.
Coolant level is at normal just below Max and was changed a couple of years ago and it's pink in colour.
No work has been done to the car which is showing also the park brake light after a minute or so into the drive.
Temp lights come onand stay on after a few seconds on starting the engine
Thanks for your help

If you unplug the temperature sensor plug, do you get exactly the same symptoms as if it were plugged in?

If it behaves the same, suspect a faulty sensor, the plug/socket, the wiring loom all the way back to the ECU including the ECU plug/socket connection.

You changed the sensor and bled the air out and did you check the plug was OK and making a decent electrical connection

Hi
I believe that everything stayed the same and the check engine light came on but I am not sure. I will try again after work and let you know.
Connections seem ok , they clip together quite solidly. I am having more trouble with other systems , could it be due to engine is dirty with oil coming from the breather from the top cover.?
It is the wife's car and after 6 years I think it needs a long rest :)
Thanks again

Hi to all
I had a spot of bother and couldn't get back to you earlier. Yes the lights come on even with the sensor disconnected. If the engine is turned off and ignition is turned on you get a reading of the temp for a few seconds.

Good morning to all
I tinkered with the C3 this weekend regarding the temp problem and the fan.
I removed the sensor in the expansion tank for the coolant and got the red light flashing on the temp indication on the dash , checked the connection on the temp sensor looked OK but still the all the lights come on after a few seconds of starting the engine.
Checked all the fuses in the engine bay , near battery , all OK but still no fan which has free movement.
Any help is much appricated.
Thanks
Ray

Hi to all
Stil have the same problems on the C3, temp lights allON and fan not working even on A/C. When ing is turned OFF after a trip then On temp shows correct reading for a few seconds. Handbrake light I fixed it was a screw ( ground ) holding one of the sensors, which also cleared the e ngine light.
Temp sensor replaced and getting same results as before. Checked wiri g for sensor and fan all Ok ,,,as best I could ..... fan has 5 wires so I giest it is co trolled by ECU . Does so.eo e k ow where I can get a wiringmanual or diagram so I can check voltages .

Thanks
Ray

Keepup the great work guys
