happened for first time today my wife had been out down town etc when she came to set off (cold engine)the car started jumping/kangarooing but when she built up momentum it stopped also it did it again when changed form 2nd to 3rd. upon picking me up the car did it again on setting off (warm engine) but its not done it for the rest of the day now i have looked on some other webpages and there coming up egr valve/fuel problems now i know mine is the non electrical egr so i wouldn't expect a engine management light to come on and its also not like the engine was cutting out. 1.4 hdi 8v lx 2003 113000

The mechanical EGR is quite easy to clean and test. Considering the mileage it wouldn't to any harm (apart from the cost of a new clip) to clean and test yours.

With this job done, you can cross it off the list of suspects.

You could still have codes stored. It would be worth reading these if you were still having trouble. Use a lexia tool to get the complete list of errors and then diagnose from there.

Fault suggests the EGR is well worth looking at.

EGR removal on 16v Diesel https://citroenc3owners.com/diesel-c3-ti ... -t289.html

You don't need a special tool, but if you want one use a vacuum gauge.

Thoroughly clean the EGR then you can look and feel if it is jammed and applying some vacuum to the small pipe will operate the egr valve against the spring pressure. If you don't have a vacuum gauge to hand you can just give a good hard suck on the pipe to make the valve move to prove its not jammed.

A blanking plate is a quick fix, but not really the solution.

You may have got the MAF faults if you disconnected the MAF as some point. Worth clearing the codes and getting some new ones.

Can you check your info in the box on the left is correct, says 'petrol'

Well its nearly 3 weeks since I took off my egr valve and gave it all a through clean, also sprayed all the electrical connectors with contact cleaner and cleaned the maf only used brake/clutch cleaner to clean the egr. Also changed the fuel and air filter and made sure all pipes were free from oil/muck. Reset the fault codes and touch wood all is running smoothly. Wife also commented it feels more keen to pull away, so all in a good easy cheap job all sorted for this weekend off to Oulton park for BTCC. Well chuffed.
