I have read the guide to replacing washers but I think mine is a newer model with electronic injectors and I need some tips on how to remove the plastic inlet manifold I don't want to break it. Does it need a special tool . can anyone help? This problem has occurred on our car before and Citroen dealer charged £500!

Hello rikki
The car that the demo for changing the injector fire seals without having to remove the inlet manifold was performed on a 2002 1.4 16v HDi. This same engine and injectors are used in the 2004 (and on) 16 valve cars. They are all electronic injectors.

This is an Injector from the 16v 1.4HDi Citroen C3.
The 8v (8 valve) injectors look different but have the same way of fixing to the engine.
Firstly you need to identify your engine, is it 8 or 16 valve?
If you want to go down the route of removing the inlet manifold (with all the extra work - hence the £500+ quote), then I suggest a read of Haynes Manual for Citroen C3 Diesel (here)
Removing the inlet manifold on an 8v or 16v diesel Citroen C3 is a big job and not to be taken on lightly. Hence the reason for the guide, to avoid having to take on extra unnecessary work.
The car in the Citroen C3 Identifying a 'chuffing' sound from the engine bay. Diesel demo had only one leaking injector fire seal, so only one was changed. You don't need to change a whole set if only one is faulty.

Hi sazaboo,
If its the washer, I would just extract it like a cork from a bottle (its only copper) using a tapered threaded home made tool / broken stud extractor tool.
If its the injector, then plenty of this penetrating oi and jiggling/wiggling - mindful of the rubber mounting the the sleeve is attached to

Would that be the washer or the injector seized?only managed to get one out...the other is seized in
