Hi,
new to this forum but seems very well informed.
I have recently purchased 2002 1.4hdi with 118000 on the clock. Runs perfect except for what feels like movement from the engine. When your in neutral, if you rev the engine you can feel some movement from the engine and there's a slight clunk. When you pull away in first and change to second you can feel it but after that it does it no more till you stop again. Is that an engine mount or a clutch problem?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Martin

This sounds like it could be the lower rear engine mount.

This is under the car and links the chassis to the rear of the gearbox. May be worth checking this.

It is held in with two bolts and takes about ten minutes to change with vehicle correctly jacked and with axle stands. Mine had separated when I changed it! See below.

The part costs around £30 from here. A branded Febi part is much closer to the quality of the OEM part that lasted around 100K miles.

This link should take you to a rear engine mount for 8HY (DV4TED4), and 8HX (DV4TD) (same mount covers 8v and 16v HDi engines) on eBay: Citroen C3 lower (rear) engine mount on eBay

Number 2 on the attached diagram above is the rear lower gearbox - engine mount.

It is also worth checking EuroCarParts site (click here) to see if they have stock.

Glad to hear this is a easy fix I picked up a knocking noise yesterday and upon inspection found this mount to be torn. Will I just need to replace just that one mounting rubber?

Yes, you need only to change this part - the dog bone link (gearbox lower mount).

Noisy on small bumps, quite on big bumps could be the drop link / stabilizer bar. There is some information in this post -
Citroen C3 Knocking noise from under the front of the car.
