Engine not cranking

Hi guys. On my 1.4 hdi I had a weird starter motor whine when cranking the enige over and a intermittent cut-out whilst driving. I replaced the starter but that (almost electrical) whine is still present with a additional problem. Instead of engine cut-out, the engine won't turn at all(Intermittently)

You may have a poor battery, connections to the battery or a poor earth connection.

The other thing that plays a part in starting is the ignition switch.

I don't know what is causing the whine, that's uncommon for a starter. Alternators can whine, but not usually the starter.

You need to read the codes to be sure what is or isn't causing the engine cut out. It may be main power, as I mentioned above, but it could also equally be ECU code related.

Use lexia tool for codes on a 2002 year.
