Im looking at buying a C3 and have heard some serious scare stories about the DPF (Or FAP if your french)
The particular model I'm looking at is a Citroen C3 1.4 HDi 70 CRD Airdream+ (Registration date 25/08/09)
Thats all the info I have on it at the moment, I have asked the seller but unfortunately they dont know. Obviously I dont want to buy a new car and find in a year or so time that I have a huge bill replacing the DPF.
Does my future C3 have a DPF?

Welcome to the forum Shaggy2000
The 1.4 HDi 70 engine in the new shape is shown as having a FAP and without a FAP in the parts lists so its inconclusive so say either way without a VIN.
But, why panic? You seem to be aware of the DPF/FAP which puts you ahead of all those who don't know they have one and don't look after it. Allow the DPF to regenerate and if you can't accommodate that, there is always some JLM DPF Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner Fluid (get some here)
Also available here
The DPF/FAP is here to stay, just as the catalytic converter arrived, everyone got flustered, refused to buy cars with them fitted, scaremongering, now no one blinks an eye at the cat.
There is a post on the 'anti-pollution fault' - here - Citroen FAP (DPF) Regeneration 'Antipollution Fault' C3 HDi

The car I'm looking at isn't the latest shape, its the older one, the one in the middle I think.
The reason I'm concerned is that I dont know how the previous owner drove it, if they did lots of short trips I may have an expensive surprise waiting for me.

Oh, one of the last facelift. I looked at the parts list for that engine in that model too and its shows the POWERFLEX ADDITIVE (eolys type stuff) for DPF and some without - so that's inconclusive. I think you will need the VIN and the RPO location on car and a call to citroen.
