There is a puddle of clean diesel around 2 of the injectors. It runs fine no chuffing sound. It doesn't look like its coming from any of the pipes they are all dry. When I rev it up it looks like it is coming from where the plate is which holds the injector in place. Would a injector leak diesel from the middle of the injector?

I have included a picture with a arrow from where it looks like leaking

Hello

No, it wouldn't leak from the middle.

I would guess it is more likely to be coming from the leakoff pipe connection and running down to that point.

The part with the arrow wouldn't leak diesel.

You can clean the area with some brake cleaner, paying particular attention to the leakoff pipe connection and then run the engine to investigate.

I have cleaned it off several times and can't see any sign of diesel from the leak off pipes. All seems so dry. Could it be the injector seal or does only black gunk happen with that?

If it was leak off pipes would it be the green o ring that needs replacing?

The injector seal 'fire seal' copper crush washer does the job of sealing the compression chamber against the injector housing.

So it seals out combustion particles that makes a black gunk, not clean diesel.

The pressure in the supply side is very high, dangerous to people.

The leakoff pressure is low, safe.

Yes, the green o-ring may need replacing, particularly if it has been damaged.

Do you think the leak off pipes or joins are the only place it would leak diesel from?

That is the only place I have seen low pressure diesel leaking from on the injector.

Is it likely to leak from the high pressure side or would there be more fuel spraying around
