Due to covid, normal service schedules have gone out of the window, although I've never taken my 2016 C3 Picasso to a Citroen dealer for it due to the huge inconvenience involved. It was last serviced was on 26/7/21 at 48,843 miles, yet the service light has now come on just over a year later at only 51,384 miles.
The question is, why has the service light come on this early and is it safe to ignore it? The last time I dutifully asked for the diesel filter to be changed and you wouldn't have known it wasn't brand new. I long ago gave up worrying about any warranties, although I'm sure they've been long since invalid anyway. What would you do? Is there anything that really must be done after such a short time and under 3,000 miles?

Hello
I would ignore it, or better still, reset it.
The reset will give you your lost year back and get the servicing schedule back on track.
The instructions to reset the service indicator are here. They cover the 2002 and 2010, but if the C3 Picasso differs, I will add the procedure here.

C3 Picasso on a 2015 is the same service indicator reset procedure as the 2010 models of Citroen C3
switch off the ignition, press and hold the trip distance recorder zero reset button, switch on the ignition; the distance recorder display begins a countdown, when the display indicates "=0",
release the button; the spanner disappears.
