Hi Paul, did you resolve this problem ? I purchased a C3 in May this year its a 64 plate diesel. I am having the same problem that you had , when stationery and in neutral and handbrake on the revs don't fall but stay at around 2-3 for quite some time. Also when changing gears and taking my foot of the accelerator then engaging the clutch the engine starts revving really badly . Why is this happening my right foot is nowhere near the accelerator!!I have no idea why , I have driven numerous vehicles and never had this problem . The vehicle came with a years warranty but after reading the terms, and conditions I don't think its covered. Its booked in for a service next Wed fingers crossed its not an expensive problem .

Hi cookienut2008

Paul had a petrol engine at the time of his post (in the petrol engine section).

Your engine is a diesel engine.

Although the symptoms of 'Engine revs slow to return to idle' are the same for both engines, due to the very different functioning of each fuel system the solution will be very different.
