diesel engine has blue smoke

my diesel smokes on start up blue smoke for a min then ok. can you still get oil seal for an engine seam to remember you could buy it for petrol engines can't remember if you could get it for diesels thanks

Hello skyman

Blue smoke could indicate engine oil burning.

This could be rings or valve guides or a problem with an incorrect grade of oil or contaminated (thinned) oil.

Are you running the correct grade of oil, over the correct service interval for the type of driving the car does?

I would start with the oil and take it from there. The is an engine flush from Forte Lubricants (click here) that can free sticking rings, if you are going to do an oil change this may be an option to include?
