If I keep my MAF disconnected - because the car appears to work fine now -
am I at risk of ignoring a potentially bigger problem - such as a blocked EGR.?
Disconnecting the MAF forces the ECU to use its default values. They are not ideal, but perfectly acceptable for normal conditions.

Disconnect MAF won't give as good emissions or performance, but you may not even notice. It depends on your conditions that you drive in.

I don't see any potential problems with disconnecting the MAF, other than those above, but you will want to be looking into getting it fixed, just for the the economy, performance and emissions.

Thanks. So shall I ignore the egr? Its just that the fault codes (see earlier) said there was something wrong there?

Just to let y'all know,

I cleaned the MAF, see other thread, and the car is now running perfectly.

No warning light.

All fixed.

So THANK YOU to everyone who gave me good advice here.! :)

Saved me ££££$$$$$$!!!!
