How quickly should the colour of the oil change on a Diesel?

Only had mine a few months and it was reported as being serviced before pickup.
Checked the oil a few days ago and I was surprised to find it is a very black colour.
Is this normal?

As its a 2011 I assume it has a DPF (log book says it is a SH9HP0 engine), maybe this is something to do with it, when the engine burns off the soot possibly?

Sorry if this is a basic question, but I have never owed a diesel before :o

It goes dark pretty quickly. I wouldn't worry.

No, the engine doesn't burn soot. The soot is burnt in the exhaust system via the DPF (filter) and its regeneration cycle.

SH9HP0 is 92hp engine.
