Hi all

Well after looking for a diesel Pluriel - it would appear pre-2006 low mileage examples are thin on the ground. So I am now considering a standard C3 HDi - and the 1.6 litre models have an attractive £30 tax rate.

Are there any specific things I should look out for with say a 2007 / 2008 1.6HDi exclusive?

Thanks :)

Pluriel, leaking roof.

C3 and the Pluriel a full service history.

The £30 tax rate may be even lower when you buy it :)

Oh, not to be forgotten, the all important existing finance (among other things) check - thanks to HPI

Hi Arfur

Thanks for the reply :)

I always perform a HPI check on cars I have bought - and through HPI.

You mention the £30 tax could be cheaper - could you elaborate?

I wondered if there were issues specific to the car that I should be aware of. Anything with the 1.6 HDI engine / chassis / drivetrain / electrics etc? Are there issues for example with the front suspension (think I read that somewhere)?

Basically anything I should be aware of - and pertinent questions to ask or areas to investigate.

Thanks :)

Yes, check with the online tool to see the tax, I did a C3 1.4HDi and it came out at £20
Citroen C3 HDi tax at £20
Citroen C3 HDi tax at £20

front springs are know to fail, its a common problem with the C3, and many others that use the thin springs. Rear exhaust hangers corrode at high mileage. Injectors fail, but I think this is due to a lack of servicing. The rear exhaust hanger will also be noticed on a service. Other problems crop up at 100 000miles, but you were looking at lower mileage cars.

I suppose the clutch is a lower mileage problem, its not very common, but can be an real issue for a limited number of C3 owners.
This is one of the clutch problem topics https://citroenc3owners.com/petrol-citro ... m-t98.html.
