Basically my citroen started giving me issues where I step on the gas pedal and it just inputs gas up to a point ,from where I can step the pedal all the way down and it still injects the same amount of gas in to the engine, resulting in a non changing acceleration,on flat terrains. But on uphill climbs it even starts to lose velocity as it requires more gas to maintain the speed.
I went to a mechanic.Who was so busy I had to wait 2h so he can hook his laptop to the car computer, and give the result that the MAF is giving issues. After explaining where it is and what it does. And that this is my problem. He basically told me to get one from the internet(second hand or new) and install it myself. I personally don't mind as I like doing things myself, and as the mechanic said "you can unscrew few bolts can you?".
All ok with that. But I decided going with a new MAF instead of a second hand.As all the online posts for second hand C3 parts I saw had almost the same milage as my C3 so I guess that their MAFs are either damaged as well or just waiting to expire like mine.
But looking for a new,I had trouble there as well.As all the car parts sellers do not have that type of MAF on stock. But I ended up accidentally clicking on the C3 1.6 HDi V16 90hp disel, instead of the C3 1.4 HDi V16 90hp disel link. When it loaded I saw that these were in stock.Later I saw that I was looking at the 1.6 instead of 1.4 .But I noticed that it's exactly the same shape, and it's bolts are in the same number(as the mechanic told me to look for the 3 screw MAF).It's oval shaped as mine is.I looked at it's characteristics and they are basically the same as the ones in the 1.4 section.
So considering they have it in stock, can I install a this MAF for 1.6 disel to my 1.4 disel? Oh yeah and the brand is Pierburg
Can I use MAF from C3 1.6 HDI on 1.4 HDI

I have not tried a 1.6 on a 1.4 MAF but the 1.4 MAF is used on other makes of car, so its not only for the 1.4 16v HDi. I am sure it will be fine on the 1.6.okuma_10 wrote:o considering they have it in stock, can I install a this MAF for 1.6 disel to my 1.4 disel? Oh yeah and the brand is Pierburg
You can test for a MAF fault by disconnecting it which forces the ECU to use default values. These default values are not optimal, but they are much better than a faulty MAF.
Computer error codes only give an error and a suggestion to the faulty component in the description. For example a' MAF fault + shorted to gnd' could be a bad MAF, a bad plug and socket connection, some damaged wiring or a problem at the ECU or ECU plug.

You can disconnect the plug from it, no need to remove it. The car should drive better with it disconnected (if the MAF is faulty).okuma_10 wrote:Yes I was going to,but forgot to ask the guy at the shop.If I disconnect it or remove it ....can't I just drive without it.
You wouldn't want to drive too long with it disconnected because a working MAF is better an no MAF
