Fitting ECU and BSI KEY ebay kit from an exact same model on the same year won't need any programming to get working. Although linking up to lexia wouldn't do any harm to check all the options are set correctly.

If you buy a brand new ECU, it will need programming with lexia to get paired to the BSI and other setting sorted out.

If you buy a second hand ECU, its will need some programming on the bench to get the immobiliser deactivated, this will then be an 'immo off ECU'.

Fitting BSI and ECU are not that tricky, its just how much programming you want to do, and which programming tools do you have?

The easiest one is just get the ebay kit that matches your car and fit that as you don't need any programming to get working.

Might help if you havnt already done so. Start engine and flex every relative wire you can get to near to its conection with an engine related sensor. Also check all earths inc engine to body earth. Intermitent faults tend to be an earth fault.

from what C3driver52 explained, it won't just work and will need the immobiliser deactivating. Not something you can do yourself, unless you have access to the correct programming hardware and software.

This is the easiest method as no programming is required, just as C3driver52 says....
