Hello,
I have a problem with my air con, shortly after I switch it on the high temp warning sounds and the temp gauge goes to 6 bars. When I switch the ignition off and let it rest a short while all is fine till I switch on the air con again. I noticed when I do switch it on it used to cut in with a bit of a clunk now its more a click before the warnings sound. The trouble started a while after I went through a big rainstorm I don't know if this is connected. The car is an 03 1.4 hdi 16v and has done 95k with no big problems so far. Thanks if someone can give any advice

Is the engine temperature normal when the air con is off?
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

To me it sounds like there may be a fault with the cooling fan. Maybe the high-speed part?

Its all computer controlled, so I would suggest connecting the diagnostics lexia, OBD2 may help, but the full lexia would be my choice for this sort of fault.

Get the codes and do some tests on the cooling fan to see it functions correctly and check the air con while you are there.

Lexia

Communicate with the AIR CON control:
Lexia showing Air Conditioning diagnostics on a Citroen C3
Lexia showing Air Conditioning diagnostics on a Citroen C3
Air con no deactivated shown in Lexia on Citroen C3
Air con no deactivated shown in Lexia on Citroen C3
Air Con can be deactivated by the computer 'air conditioning cut off request' due to a fault.

and there are fan tests which I don't have a picture for right now.
