hi All,
I have had a proverbial nightmare, with a garage keeping my car for some 8 months and then charging me for not fixing the thing, and leaving the engine bay in a real mess.
I am attempting to fix it myself now, but have come across an additional engine fuse/relay box to that below the engine fuse panel. It is located just in front of the normal one, below the left hand headlamp. It has 3 or 4 large fuses (40A or 30A) and two of three relays. The main issue is that this is not shown on any diagram I can find and it is just "floating" - it is not fixed to anything! It is not obvious where it should fix to, or how it should fix. Anyone have any idea? If it helps I have some photos but just dropping this line quickly. It may have been fixed to some of the plastic panels around that area but I would be surprised!
It is/was a 2003 SX 16V HDI.

Hi Simon B17
To me this sounds like you're describing the part of the engine bay fusebox which normally lives underneath the fuse panel which you see when it's all properly assembled.
I don't have any photographs to show you but hopefully someone will be along soon with pictures.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

thanks guys - here is a couple of photos - one showing its position relative to the engine fuse box, and a close up of the additional fuse/relay box.

I can see the confusion. The part I have arrowed on your picture is Part number 15 on the black and white drawing above. I think part 17 is a bracket for it, but I can't see that on the car I took the pictures from, unless 17 is the lid?SimonB17 wrote:thanks guys - here is a couple of photos - one showing its position relative to the engine fuse box, and a close up of the additional fuse/relay box.
The picture below is from a 2002 1.4 16v HDi C3 and shows the same fuse box but in its plastic protective box as shown in the black and white diagram. Its fixed down, probably just clipped to the metal below it.
What do the fuses protect? I don't know - yet
