Welcome to the forum vass,

That is a very loud noise in the video. I can't see from the video of its louder at the alternator end of the engine or near the exhasut outlet. Where on the engine is the sound loudest?

Does the car drive ok, has plenty of power?

I assume you do have the correct quantity and grade of oil for the Diesel C3 (look here) (by checking the dipstick for level rather than relying on the computer).

Hi C3CAR,
tnx for reply

This sound cames more like from alternator side.
The oil was renewed 2 months ago, it was semisünth oli 10w/40.
Ticking was started a 3 weeks ago. Bot now its more loudly.

Engine was passed disel test one week ago.

Its difficult for me to tell from the video, does the ticking speed change with rpm? It sounds reletively slow ie not cam-shaft speed, more like auxiliary belt speed - does that make sense?
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Thats a good point Missing Lincs.

Maybe another video with a second person in the car bringing the revs up from tickover to 1500/2000 RPM would show if the noise varies with RPM.

Does the car have air conditioning?

The auxilary drive belt drives the alternator and has an idler and tensioner, with the addition of driving the air con compressor on those that have it fitted.

A quick and dirty way to disprove any of the above items from beig the cause of the sound would be to remove the auxillary drive belt and start the car. If the sound has gone, you know what to focus on, if the sound continues, you know its not the bits listed above because they are not moving.

If you take the belt off, you may want to fit a new one as they are about £10 on eBay, but get the right one dependant on your spec with or without aircon.... Alternator dive belts for Citroen C3 (look here).

Hi,

This car dont have air conditioning.
If RPM is minimum then is good to hear ticking noise, but if RPM increas, then its hard to hear.

I will tray to find out root cause on this week.

The problem was in crankshaft pulley wheel.
the wheel was replaced with new and problem was solved.

Tnx for your advice.

Links to the parts to fix the tapping in the engine bay due to a worn out crank pulley:

Citroen C3 HDi tapping engine noise fix part

The C3 1.4 HDi crankshaft pulley is here (for engines with 8 valves and 16 valves) with FREE UK Delivery!

A few drops of Red Thread Lock (this one) on the bolt that holds the pulley to the crank is needed.

If you are thinking ahead then change the auxiliary drive belt while its slack, find the right auxiliary drive belt here as they vary in length between cars with and without air conditioning.
