Sorry to jump in as i'm new to this forum and no idea how to post a new one

I have a Citroen C3 1.4 hdi which have a starting problem. It has a starting problem every time when I locks/Unlocks my car and try to start. When I turn my key to starting position I can hear a relay clicking noise on the BSI but car motor wont crank. I got a Delphi and Lexia tool and checked codes.

P1693 Controlled engine starting and stopping : Starting or stopping requests absent or not valid

Above was found which prevent my car to crank over to start. Soon I clears the code, car starts fine and run as normal. But when I locks/unlock car wont starts until I clear the code or leave the car for 10 mins ignition off or remove the battery terminal and re-connect.

I have tried holding the key to start position and clear the code while holding the key and my car starts soon as I hit clear on my diagnostic.

Following an immobiliser problem I changed ECU/BSI/KEY but this error still present and immobiliser issue was resolved which was i had to reset bsi every time to fire up engine. So the Immobiliser issue was engine was cranking but not firing up. After swapping the car haven't got any issues starting when engine is cranking.

I would use lexia to check the remote locking system and the immobiliser with its anti scanning system because you say the fault happens each time you lock the car.

Look for these screen in lexia

Yes, immobiliser stop the firing, but allows cranking.

I don't know how the BSI stop the cranking. Usual non cranking faults are the brushes in the starter motor.

comes up as

P1693 Turbo charge control circuit malfunction -
SID 803 Starting and switching off of the engine controlled. Starting or switch-off requests absent or not valid.

What does lexia say about this fault? A screen capture or two would save typing.

Hi Guys... Thanks for the response. I will check on lexis for the key settings. If I brief the problem once again. My car suffered an immobiliser problem which I had to reset my bsi everytime. After replacement of the ecu bsi and key that fault was resolved. But this starting issue still present. I have checked the starter and solenoid are ok and no power comes when key is turned. But hears a clicking relay inside the bsi. When I cleared the p1693 fault code car starts fine. This error message was on the previous ecu kit. New set was removed from a fully checked car infront me. Fault code shows up stating a starting problem but not a turbo issue. As I said I kept key turned to cranking position of the ignition and asked my mate to clear the code which starts the whilst I'm holding the key. The clearing of the code works like pressing a start button.

Hi Everyone

I have checked Lexia and the screen is similar what Arfur Dent requested me to check. Also i have to mention that there's a problem with my ABS Ecu as its not showing on my Lexia neither speedometer showing. I bought a secondhand one and just connected to ABS connector and my speedo started working. But did not had a chance to check if the ABS makes a difference on my starting signalling issue.

Does anyone know the ABS ECU got something to do with P1693 fault code?

If your key is already programmed try the re-sync procedure.

You can't program a previously programmed key to a BSI. You will need a virgin key to program it to the BSI. The remote locking fobs are quite expensive, but the immobiliser chips are quite cheap. For each programming you wanted to do, you will need an unused component to bond to the BSI (and your key card code).

You can only re-sync a previously programmed and paired key (keys that have not been previously paired can not be re-synced).

This post has a bit of information about the parts inside the fob.
