I have a coolant leak from the corrugated pipe behind the engine which runs from the water pump to the thermostat housing. I have obtained a new pipe has anybody experienced fitting the new pipe and problems encountered.

I have not had to change that bit, but here are the hints and information that I have on coolant hoses.danieldemain wrote:No probably next month bit of a leak I've put rad stop in system. Any hints very much appreciated.
Before you start, its worth draining down the cooling system to save splashing the coolant around and it getting into places it shouldn't. Drain down by removing the lower radiator hose clip and catch it in an old washing up bowl. You may need to replace the clip, its worth having some spare ones to hand. There are an Assortment of Hose Clips. Stainless steel is best, BZP is cheaper.
Refilling the system.
Its best to use new coolant, unless it has recently been changed. There is a topic here, on the right coolant to use on the C3. There is also information in that topic about creating a header tank to ensure the air is expelled wile filling the system.
I find the C3 Haynes manual really useful to read before a job like this. If you are taking things apart, it can be a help to take photos along the way to help see how it goes back together.
Its also worth considering doing other jobs at the same time if they are near due and they cross over. For example, if you need to remove the air filter box to get to a part, factor in fitting a new air filter. Saves doing things twice.
Here are some pictures, thanks to RC3D for taking them when he had his C3 1.4 8v engine out for an overhaul.
Which give you a view you can only see with the engine removed - priceless
