Hi,

I have several problems with my C3 1.4 HDI Citroen:
- car won't start after turning key on, there is power, all lights are on but the motor starter is not turned on. I can hear a relay click (which is normal) but motor want start, starter is not turning engine on. after several turns off and back on car starts normally.

this problem started to occur after temperature went below 10°C in the garage and after the radio was once left on during the night
I had similar problem once but back than it was faulty battery and in that time when car was started all lights went off, which is now not happening since lights do not go off when i try to start engine.

there are some old ones that are not happening as often:
- system is reporting (beeping) lack of diesel fuel (e.g. while driving), it can beep only once or several times, beeping stops and all is fine until next morning ride.
- sometimes the servo stops working (even when driving) but next day (or after the car is turned off) it stars to work normally.
- indicator of air bags turn on, turning off the car and back on solves the issue (motor does not to be started)

When servo issue occurs, I started to kick the plastic part below the wheel and in some cases this helped to solve servo problem temporarily.
Servo issue could be connected to rainy weather.

Did someone had similar issues, is there a lose contact somewhere in the wiring?
Any help would be appreciated.

And I had the remote key opening of doors issue, it did not work, tried bonding the key with the car procedure, change the battery but no luck. Then I opened the key, re-solder all connections and now it is fine :-)

Thx,

Zac

You probably have a poor connection in this area and moving it makes and breaks a connection. I would focus in this area by finding which connections are there and then cleaning or checking them. If covers are missing or incorrectly fitted, water or moisture could have made its way in.

Usually due to a faulty starter motor or solenoid, easier to change the pair for a new one from ECP (here) but they can be repaired.

How do you know the beep is a lack of fuel?

Does the C3 get serviced correctly?

Regarding servo I will check the connections in that area

If the price for starter is 100 UKP + fitting it will be the question is it worth it, car value is arround 2000 UKP or even less.
Interesting is that the car can be started if it is hot, this issue only occurs when starting car for the first time in a day.

car is regulary serviced in official citroen service center so it is not the issue of bad maintenance. and those issues started to pop up during last few months :-(
