1.4 Hdi 16V 2003 Fuel gauge stopped working

Hi,

I had to fill up with my engine running as battery was low.

The gauge had the last bar & orange light showing. I put £15.00 of diesel in & when i came back to the car it was still showing the same. It always worked fine prior to this.

I've have tried the following to no avail, switched the car off and left it for a hour, then overnight. Disconnected the battery for 1 min. Banged bottom of tank, put another £5.00 .

Only thing its done after a 25 miles run is go down to the orange light only (no bars showing - never ever had this before)

Any ideas.

Hi eddy dar

When I have had fuel gauge problems the solution has been to fill it up to the brim. The gauge then sprang back into life.

You have probably upset the computer by filling the tank while the engine was running? :lol:

Oh, and get a new battery before that gives you all sorts of problems ;)

Topped it to the brim & it now shows a full tank. - RESULT !
