Hello to everyone.
I have a citroen c3 1.4 16v diesel 2004 engine code 8HY and the injector system is DELPHI. I have a problem which i can't solve it. Sometimes it gets turbo off and gets light on the fault indications of esp in triangle.
The fault code is P0238. Does anyone has the same problem??
Thanks...

Hi CITROENC3MIX

Your ESP fault is not connected to the turbo manifold pressure P0238 fault.

To diagnose the ESP fault you will need to get the car connected to Lexia system and get the code and description from there.

For your P0238 fault it could be the manifold pressure sensor or any part of the variable vane turbo control system, but check the MAP sensor first as its easy to get at, then work through the turbo control (vacuum system).

The lexia tool (amazon) can read MAP sensor live data and read more codes than an OBD2 system on the C3.

Does the ESP fault light come on when the turbo drops out?

Yes the ESP fault light come on when the turbo drops out, so you think is map sensor the problem?

I think you should start at the MAP and inspect for damage, poor connections or wiring damage. Remove it and inspect it. Then checking for MAP live data using the lexia tool I mentioned above would be very beneficial.

From there work your way through the system, and it depends if you have lexia by now; if you read for turbo faults and go that route or inspect the turbo electrovalve (swap it for the EGR one?), inspect the vacuum system etc.

I am sure your code reader is not giving you the full picture, what did you use?

Great, then you can get live data for the MAP so you can see how well its performing or not while the engine is running.

You can also look at the ESP light with lexia.

You can check the turbo electrovavle and the EGR electrovalve with lexia and there is a fault diagnostics tree when you press the F key indicated at the bottom of the lexia screen (off the bottom of your screen).

No problem.

I have a screen shot of a 1.4 16v (Delphi) 'live data' of the Turbo pressure setting, MAP sensor reading (Turbo pressure measured) and Engine speed. From this you can see if the MAP sensor (turbo pressure sensor) is working correctly.
Manifold Air Pressure (Turbo Pressure) live data on a Delphi 16v 1.4 HDi Citroen C3

It may give you something to compare your data with.
