Hello
right will try to keep this short as its been going on for some time now
back in feb had some trouble with said car. after a new crank sensor and maf meter
was told it was the e.c.u. so had a new one fitted by a highly recommended company in warrington cheshire
ran fine for about 2.5 months
The symptoms are
you can be driving along at 5mph or 65 mph and it just cuts out sometimes starts again sometimes not
call the r.a.c. out and it keeps giving faults for the crank sensor and /or maf meter. tell them that they are new parts they say it may be ecu
had it back to the so called specialists all this last week they ran it and because it didnt cut out on them
the didnt do anything didnt even test the ecu
so still got the problem and have no idea where to start so any help would be great
dont suppose theres anyone in the leigh/wigan area with the right equipment would come have a look at my car
i cant pay you but tea and biscuits i can do
many thanks for reading this

Hi Durries

There is NOT an 02 with DPF.

For crank faults being saved your engine will cut out.

There is a topic on crank fault that was due to a poor connection to the crank sensor but you may have a poor connection to the ecu or some poor wiring between the two.

Crank sensor topic

c3car
thanks for the reply
Do you or anyone else know if the wiring from the sensor runs direct to the ecu or are there any other wires joined to them somewhere in the loom
am thinking of running some new wiring from the sensor direct to the ecu if possible (after cleaning the plug)

i said an 02 with dpf only because its on a 52 plate and the ved is £30 a year so i just thought it has one ?
oh just one more. In the haynes manual is the crank sensor known as the engine speed sensor

again thanks for any advice

Its a complicated wiring diagram with connectors before it gets to the ECU.

I will look for a diagram

£30/a year is due to the CO2 levels given off, whereas the DPF is a diesel particulate filter that filters Particulate Matter (PMs). 2 very different things. No DPF on an 02/52

My Haynes calls it a 'Crankshaft speed/position sensor'.
