roof switch problems and rear tailgate

If you need help with your C3 Pluriel, that seems specific to the Pluriel (like the roof), ask here. Engine and Transmission problem must be asked in the relevant topic for the problem. first of all a big hi to everyone, as i am new new to the forums. i have a 2004 citroen pluriel 1.4.
i have a roof problem with my newly bought car. the roof does not work at all, nor does the rear tailgate open. i have managed to strip some bits from the rear and have managed to get the rear tailgate open, but once i shut it i have to open it manually from inside the car again. also the roof switch does not work at all. one of my questions is
1, should the roof switch light up, or make any type of noise when it is pushed, as mine does nothing, no light or noise.
2, does anyone have any troubleshooting tips to try, as i have no idea how the roof works at all, so i am working blind at the minute.
3, is the roof switch easy to remove, as i can't see any obvious way of getting it out, and i dont want to break it as i am guessing the roof may have to be retracted to get at the switch for removal ?
i have searched on this forum and the internet, but i cant find anything relating to my switch and rear tailgate problem.
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
