Roof Not opening and closing correctly - Loud Clicking Noise

If you need help with your C3 Pluriel, that seems specific to the Pluriel (like the roof), ask here. Engine and Transmission problem must be asked in the relevant topic for the problem. The Pluriel shares the same Engine, Gearbox, Brakes and Transmission as the other C3 models (see above for the correct section).

Did you know the Pluriel shares the engines, gearboxes, electrical, audio system, suspension, steering and running gear with the early C3?

Ok hope someone can help, when i go to open the roof it only opens about 12 inches, when i go to close the roof it closed and then a load clicking noise sound similar to a ratchet sound. The boot will now no open.

If anyone can shed some light on what components might have failed?

Hi craigh

The roof motor drive is transferred by cables via a worm drive. The ratcheting noise could be the worm drive skipping on the cables. The cables get stiff and seized so they can't be moved by the motor.

There is a very good topic with plenty of photos of the motor, worm drive and cables on the pluriel roof HERE.

This is a picture from that topic showing one of the cables removed from the roof.

Thanks Guru, would you happen to know the part numbers for the WORM DRIVE and the CABLES please.

The worm drive does not have its own part number, but I can see its part of the complete motor and carrier kit.

It would be worth removing or at least inspecting your existing cables to be sure the fault lies with them. If they are not damaged they may just need a clean and re-grease with some nice White Lithium Grease (click here), if you can?

Hello,
My roof is doing the same I.e. Loud ratchet noise upon closing and the boot not working. I read that there are a couple of parts I need such as the cable. My question is how easy is this to repair yourself as my TATES Citroen dealership is charging £125 just to even look at it.
Thanks,
Rob

Moderately difficult.

You have to remove lots of plastics to get a good access to the cables. You need to diagnose the problem and this can take a fair amount of skill and time. Its a very mechanical system interfaced with some electrical switches and supplies. Do you have skills that match this description Ramblingrob?

It takes time to get access to the parts that need inspecting and it all needs to go back together after inspection....

Have a look at this Roof issue investigation topic for pictures of what you may be facing.

My skills could possibly be up to that but time is not a premium...I'm in Brighton. £170 sounds reasonable, do you know anyone around Sussex at all please. Thanks for the help
