Pluriel roof rattles like a machine gun

If you need help with your C3 Pluriel, that seems specific to the Pluriel (like the roof), ask here. Engine and Transmission problem must be asked in the relevant topic for the problem. The Pluriel shares the same Engine, Gearbox, Brakes and Transmission as the other C3 models (see above for the correct section).

Did you know the Pluriel shares the engines, gearboxes, electrical, audio system, suspension, steering and running gear with the early C3?

I all just wondering if someone would be able to help me out here .. I opened my roof back fully to over the back window.. but when I went to close it it just rattled like a machine gun ..I got my partner to hold button while I pushed it back..to close it as it was raining heavy.. but now the roof will only go back 1st notch .no noise of motor running nothing .when I close it again the roof will close them motor goes like a machine gun again .. I checked the runners across they seem OK. don't no where else I can check without the roof being pulled back .. and the back window won't open to get into boot .. any help or advise be great many thanks Neil

This sounds like the motor drive gear is slipping on the drive wires. Its a common problem and often these parts fail due to a complete lack of servicing - like grease on the runner drives.

The plastic motor mounts can also fail if the roof is too stiff and now its not working at all, maybe a fuse has eventually blown to protect the wiring.

Depending on the year and if you can do the work yourself, it is quite probably a write-off.

Have a look at this topic for the roof parts (3 pages worth) that I have mentioned and you can see where they are and if its something you want to take a look at?
