Could you please PM me the link to the video (or post it here)? - It'd be greatly appreciated! I'll have to replace the roof fabric as well on mine, hopefully that won't bring the cost MUCH higher...julianmerak wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 2:05 am I just got an estimate to replace the roof cables and the drive gear plus fitting a secondhand roof ECU at over 1000 pounds or $1921 Australian dollars. I believe the roof cables are under 100 pounds in the UK , the drive gear less and you can buy the secondhand ECU's at under 80 pounds on EBay.
There is a useful video on YouTube showing these being replaced so my plan is to do this myself once I've been able to buy the parts.

What I've found on a French forum - which nobody mentions anywhere on any English-speaking forum - Is that the ECU senses when the roof has closed by the force on the motor. In other words, when the roof closes, the motor will be unable to move any further, thus the car will know the roof is actually closed. If the motor slips on the cables, like it does in our cases, well... The cables need to be replaced.tim04 wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 7:32 pm I have exactly the same issue in the youtube video -
1) Roof only opens around 6-10inches
2) When I close it I get the noise of the gears jumping on the motor gear (this is because the roof is physically fully closed but the motor is still trying to close it)
3) It did it last night, but it worked today and I was able to fully retract the roof; when I tried to close it the same thing happened again.
4) The boot lid won't open which I think must be connected.
Two quick questions -
How does the system know when the roof is fully closed/to shut off motor (there are no micro switches at the front)? At the moment the motor is trying to force the roof closed even though it is already shut.
How do I reset the roof; I have read that you hold the switch down but I can't do that as it forces the motor to run and the gears jump?
Many thanks
Tim
Thanks! I found the part numbers on a forum post somewhere, plus a European site that had some of them in stock, maybe that would help?julianmerak wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 1:46 am https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu20zGOirf8

I am trying to find a UK based supplier of those cables plus drive kit , no luck so far
