Pluriel roof issue

If you need help with your C3 Pluriel, that seems specific to the Pluriel (like the roof), ask here. Engine and Transmission problem must be asked in the relevant topic for the problem. The Pluriel shares the same Engine, Gearbox, Brakes and Transmission as the other C3 models (see above for the correct section).

Did you know the Pluriel shares the engines, gearboxes, electrical, audio system, suspension, steering and running gear with the early C3?

Ouch!
C3CAR wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 8:52 pm Spend a whole weekend on it because as you start to strip it down there will be other parts you find broken.
I guess it'll have to wait till winter when I won't need the car as much then :/

I just got an estimate to replace the roof cables and the drive gear plus fitting a secondhand roof ECU at over 1000 pounds or $1921 Australian dollars. I believe the roof cables are under 100 pounds in the UK , the drive gear less and you can buy the secondhand ECU's at under 80 pounds on EBay.
There is a useful video on YouTube showing these being replaced so my plan is to do this myself once I've been able to buy the parts.

Could you please PM me the link to the video (or post it here)? - It'd be greatly appreciated! I'll have to replace the roof fabric as well on mine, hopefully that won't bring the cost MUCH higher...
Good luck with the repair!

I have exactly the same issue in the youtube video -

1) Roof only opens around 6-10inches

2) When I close it I get the noise of the gears jumping on the motor gear (this is because the roof is physically fully closed but the motor is still trying to close it)

3) It did it last night, but it worked today and I was able to fully retract the roof; when I tried to close it the same thing happened again.

4) The boot lid won't open which I think must be connected.

Two quick questions -

How does the system know when the roof is fully closed/to shut off motor (there are no micro switches at the front)? At the moment the motor is trying to force the roof closed even though it is already shut.

How do I reset the roof; I have read that you hold the switch down but I can't do that as it forces the motor to run and the gears jump?

Many thanks

Tim

What I've found on a French forum - which nobody mentions anywhere on any English-speaking forum - Is that the ECU senses when the roof has closed by the force on the motor. In other words, when the roof closes, the motor will be unable to move any further, thus the car will know the roof is actually closed. If the motor slips on the cables, like it does in our cases, well... The cables need to be replaced.

After greasing the whole sliding mechanism for the roof I'm able to get it all the way down and back up again - It'll work for now... But I'll definitely be doing the repairs (not myself, if I can find someone who can do it for a reasonable price) when I've got the money.

Thanks! I found the part numbers on a forum post somewhere, plus a European site that had some of them in stock, maybe that would help?
Cheers!

These are the part numbers I found:
8484C4 gear set
8401Z0 Cable Kit
8401HW Interslides
8401HV Interslides

Some more part numbers here (Descriptions are in (french?) though)
https://piege.epson.free.fr/capote/

And this is the website I was talking about - https://www.kfzteile-profis.de/
I've never used them, so I don't know if they're any good. The cable kit is about 70 pounds, not sure what the shipping would be like...
Hope this helps!

Well, it is now in English, thank you smac.

It works just like the front electric windows ;)
